Quick answer. For homes in Ho Chi Minh City we offer a monthly visit that covers cockroaches, including German cockroaches, ants and other crawling insects, with mosquito treatment added where the home has a garden, balcony plants or standing water. Rodent control and termite control are arranged separately when needed. Everything can be booked and explained in English, and we work at the time you choose, usually during the day.
What a home visit covers
- Survey: kitchen, bathrooms, drains, balconies, storage, garden and the gaps pests use to get in.
- Crawling insects: residual spray along wall bases, drains, cracks and under sinks; gel bait in cupboard hinges and behind appliances, where spray should not go.
- Mosquitoes: we clear or treat standing water, mist the garden and shaded areas, and spray a band along the foot of walls, up to 1 m high, where mosquitoes rest.
- Advice list: gaps to seal, drains to cover, and what to change in storage and waste.
Food, dishes and toys are put away before treatment; we tell you when children and pets can go back into each room.
When you need more than the monthly visit
- Rats and mice: traps inside the home, locked bait stations outside, checked every week. We do not put poison bait inside your home unless you ask for it, because a rat that dies in a ceiling or wall smells for weeks. See rodent control.
- Termites: mud tubes on walls, soft door frames or winged termites in April and May need a survey; termite work is a separate service. See termite control.
- Bees, wasps and snakes: single call-outs; see bee and wasp nests.
Common pests in Ho Chi Minh City homes
- Cockroaches: large ones from drains, small ones breeding in kitchens.
- Ants: ghost ants and pharaoh ants in kitchens and bathrooms; fire ants on ground floors and balconies.
- Mosquitoes: the dengue mosquito breeds in small containers around the home.
- Geckos, spiders and rove beetles, which usually follow the insects the home already has.
Prices
The monthly visit is priced by floor area; rodent and termite work are quoted after a survey. Starting prices are on the price list.
Where you live changes the job
A villa with a garden and a twentieth-floor apartment are different pest control jobs, not the same job in two places. We wrote a page for each of the areas where most foreign residents live — Thao Dien, An Phu, Phu My Hung, District 1, Binh Thanh and District 7. See all areas we cover.
Two questions worth settling before you spend anything: whether your landlord should be paying, and what to ask about safety if you have children or pets.
If you own or rent a house with a garden, see pest control for villas and compounds. If you let the property to someone else, see pest control for landlords and property managers.
